Blog # 12(Reflection)

The week before our vacation we, had a lab about mitosis and meiosis. We learned the difference between them, and how they work out. Somatic cell divide exclusivity through mitosis and cytokinesis, while germs cells produce gamets to meiosis. Also I learned the 5 major phases that the process can be divided into; interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. I have learned a lot from this lab, and the class lectures. Last day of school we had so much fun in class with Mr.Gardner even though it was his last day with us :(. The class is going good so far and i am having fun!

Blog # 11(Reflection)

Not happy about the last marking period and my grade :(. But working hard this marking period to get at least C. In class we start talking about Enzyme and Catalysis and had a lab for it. I learned how the pH, temperature, and the concentration effect the enzyme. the lab was fun and class is good so far :). Hopefully the next lab be fun too!.

Blog # 6(Reflection)

In AP Bio class, we had Lab Activity about Osmosis and Diffusion. I learned that Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from high concentration to low and its different form Diffusion because Diffusion is the movement of molecules from high to low concentration . I also learned that if a cell is hypertonic  the water rushes into the cell, causing it to expand. If its hypotonic it loss water casing to shrink. But if its isotonic its the best condition for the plant cell between all of them because the amount of the water and the salt is balanced. To determine the water potential of a solution is by calculating the osmotic potential when the pressure potential is zero. Thats what I have learned from the lab and class lectures in the first 2 weeks of the new marking period.

Blog # 4(Reflection)

In AP Bio class, this week we were learning about the pH level and the pH scale. the experiment we did this week was to find out what pH range can Elodea plant survive in. We used the pH papers, the Elodea plant, and Solutions to see how they would effect the plant. The plant survive and was in a good condition when it was added to the water which was the normal pH range (7). But it died in some of the solution because they were too strong and too week. I learned that water is the best solution for plants and for human as well.

This week we were dealing a lot with chemistry and how is it effect our life. we did a lab to taste and see if the water a universal solvent. I learned that water is a great solvent, because it can dissolve the most type of substances. This is because solutes for the most part are able to dissolve in water with the exception of some solutes like oil. I have learned a lot this week about water and makes it a great universal solvent.
